One of the consequences of the correction in market values is that some homeowners are upside down (they owe the bank more than they can gain by selling the home). When this occurs, some homeowners for various reasons fail to make their mortgage payment and the home begins its path toward foreclosure. Some of these homeowners are renting out their home and not making the mortgage payments. The end result of this is that the tenant will be evicted following foreclosure.
